Sequencing VMware View Client 5.x with broker history using App-V - Recipe

In this demonstration I will be using App-V Sequencer 5 SP2 running on a Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise 64-bit.

Start the sequencer and select Create a New Virtual Application Package.

Select Create Package (default) and click on Next.

Make sure there is nothing to be resolved before start sequencing.

Select the installer.

Give the package a name and select the installation directory.

Once the installer starts make sure you change the destination folder to match the installation directory you chose in the last step.

Leave this blank.

When prompt to restart select No.

Once the installation is finished select I am finished installing and click on next.

Run Selected. Wait until VMware View Client stats and then close it.

Now open the Windows Registry and browse to HKCU\Software\VMware, Inc.\VMware VDM\Client, right click it and select New Multi-String Value.

Name it BrokerHistory and in the value data type the server names which should be available from the drop down list in VMware View Client. Click OK and close the Windows Registry. Click on Next.

If you left the default options you should see the below "Unsupported driver detected". This is related to the USB redirection. Either install the driver manually or disable USB redirection. Click on next.

Select Stop now. Click on next.

Select Save the package now. Type the location where you want the package to be saved and click on Create.

Once you deploy the package you should see the list of connection servers available for selection.
