SCCM - Error 1603

If you are trying to deploy some software and gets error 1603 it usually means the computer is pending a reboot.
Just reboot the computer.

If you get error 1603 when installing or repairing the sccm client with the messages:

MSI: Setup was unable to create the WMI namespace CCM

and/or

MSI: Warning 25101. Setup was unable to delete WMI namespace ccm\dcm

Then first try to uninstall and reinstall the ccm client.

If this doesn't fix the issue then open a command prompt and type:

net stop winmgmt
Go to C:\Windows\System32\Wbem and rename the Repository folder to Repository.old
net start winmgmt

Reinstall the client.

  2. It's true. But this can be mitigated by good practises such OS and software patching, controlled environments, well implemented policies, as few as possible applications, a proactive IT department and the list goes on..
